Serving others...

Lately I've been contemplating something:
~ Service ~
I struggle with it at times.
I ask myself:
When is it okay to not serve someone?
If we continue to do things for others, won't it cripple
their ability to become self-sufficient?
Why can't they do that on their own?
These are the questions that have gone through my head.
~
Then, my wonderful husband reminds me:
"... when ye are in the service of your fellow beings,
ye are only in the service of your God."
{ Mosiah 2:17 }
~
That sums it up right there:
WE SHOULD ALWAYS SERVE!
We are serving our Father in Heaven.
Not our neighbor. Not a stranger.
Him.
No matter what...
No matter where or when...
~
I'm reminded of how our Father in Heaven
doesn't want [some] of us to return to him.
He wants {ALL} of us back!
In percentages, 99% out of 100%
is pretty dang good, right?
But not to Him.
Where is that ONE? What happened?
~
We need to give of ourselves & our talents
so that we all have a chance
to return to Him.
We need to allow our children to see us serving.
I remember growing up and
watching my Mother serve others:
whether it was taking in a meal,
making a personal visit,
chatting on the phone,
giving of her time,
she served.
She didn't ask for anything in return.
She was a great example to my sisters and I.
~
I am grateful for all of the opportunities
I've had in my life to serve others.
I need to step it up, though!
My goal is to do something
EACH DAY
for someone else.
May you find time to help those around you...
