I hope you enjoy our photos (below) from this year's reunion - there were so many I had to break it up into three slide shows! We had a really good time in St. George (July 25-27) with John's whole family! Everyone was able to come, which was great! It was John's turn this year to plan the reunion, so we decided to meet everyone halfway (instead of making them all come down and suffer through the July heat in Arizona - we feared we wouldn't have a very good turnout!).
On Friday, we left Maricopa at 3:00am (I think I got to bed at 2:00am - very tired!) and made it to St. George just before lunch. We met the fam and ate; the kids had fun on the playground and in the water, and played basketball; and we had guessing jars full of yummy candy and goodies. It didn't seem fair when Kaisha & Kerianne each won a jar, since I was the one who put them together - but they guessed closest! Good job Sara & Brayden for guessing the other two! From there we drove up to Zion National Park, took in the beautiful scenery, and went to the movie about the canyon. We then found Grafton, a small ghost town near Zion. A few ancestors are buried there in the cemetery, which was really neat to see. What a cute little town - no ghost citings, though! Then it was time for dinner (Chuck-a-Rama) and back to our hotels. Our kids were excited to swim, but were only able to for a few minutes - a little girl was apparently sick and threw up, so they closed to pool to drain it. It wasn't open until Sat. morning at 11:00!!
On Saturday, all of the guys got together really early for a round of golf, and had a great time. The kids and I hung around the hotel to swim (finally!). We all then met at a fun little park in downtown St. George. We had lunch and the kids played in the lazy river and on the rocks. It was a blast - very HOT, but fun! After lunch, we drove out to the Jacob Hamblin home in Santa Clara. It's always neat to go there and learn more about our ancestor, John's great-great-great-great grandfather. We toured the house and got a lot of good pics. Then, it was back to the hotels to swim and relax. Later that night, John and I and the kids had dinner and then went to Tuachan to see "High School Musical". The kids loved it! We are so glad we took them. I hope it sparks an interest in drama and performing (we have so much drama in our house that I'm sure they'll all be naturals on the stage!!).
Then on Sunday, we packed up and checked out, and met up with the fam at the St. George Temple. The morning was beautiful; a nice temperature was such a break from the heat! We went through the visitors center, then had a family prayer and said our goodbyes. I didn't go through the visitors center because of Lexi, but had a chance to read up on "Eclipse" before the new book came out the following week! Good times...
Although it was a long distance for us to travel, we were excited to have a rental car with a DVD entertainment system (an Infinity SUV)! The kids were in heaven! It was fun to travel up and see John's family. We miss them so much, and love spending time with them whenever we can. They always make our time together cherished! Thanks guys :o)
