san diego 09...

We finally made it on vacation this summer! It has been nearly eight years since we had been to Sea World -- Kennedi was three weeks old the last time! The slideshow below is totally "picture overload" but they're all so great that I just couldn't bear to take any out. Here's a look at our weekend adventure:

{ We left on Saturday morning @ 5:30 and drove straight to San Diego -- with only one potty break (it's great to have older kids now and not have to stop ten times!) ~ got to Sea World and had an awesome bbq lunch ~ checked out Pets Rule (who knew you can train cats?) ~ enjoyed Shamu : Believe -- the kids sat on row three and were completely drenched - John & I were not that adventurous ~ then over to Sea Lions Live, modeled after SNL -- totally hilarious ~ we absolutely loved Cirque de la Mer -- wow, we could have sat there all day and watched it ~ went inside (oh so refreshing on such a hot day!) for the Sesame Street 4-D show ~ then over to see the Dolphin show ~ and back inside the "arctic zone" to see polar bears, beluga whales and the Walrus (I love love love walruses!) ~ then last but not least, John and the kids rode Shipwreck Rapids. We had tried earlier in the day but the wait was nearly two hours. So by the time we got back over there it was getting dark and a little breezy, and they waited in line for over an hour to ride a four minute ride and get completely drenched! I tried talking Kennedi out of going because she is always freezing, but she insisted! Well, she was miserable after about two minutes! And we still had to shop for souvenirs! It was a jam packed, fun-filled day and the kids were exhausted that night. We all slept great! }

{ On Sunday we drove through downtown San Diego and took in the sights, then headed for the beach. It was a bit overcast but "someone" still got burned, even with sunscreen on (I had forgot to put any on myself at Sea World so I was half-burned anyway)! John and the kids went exploring and found a couple little crabs. He also found them a snail later on that Kenners wanted to bring home! They searched for shells, built sand castles, buried themselves and each other, and had fun out in the cold water! It was fun to watch the surfers. We decided to leave after Kennedi got sand in her eyes and headed back to the hotel so they could swim. Then it was time to clean up and head out for dinner at BJ's. Mmmmmm }

On Monday we had planned to get up and leave by 5:30am, but enjoyed sleeping in instead! We finally got packed up and headed for home, to be greeted by a VERY excited little Monkey! We have so many great memories: all six of us singing song after song from John's I-touch (our kids are very cultured: they know and love songs from every era)! But our favorites this trip were Don't Stop Believin by Journey, Livin On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, the new I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas, and anything Hannah Montana! We love traveling with our kids - they're so easy! They entertain themselves and rarely complain. We can't wait for the next adventure...
