Your story...
Dad and I were so excited when we found out we were pregnant with you! We had just suffered two heartbreaking miscarriages (the second being one month before I conceived you). It was our first anniversary and we had planned a trip to California to have fun and visit a few theme parks, not knowing all the while that I was pregnant! Maybe why you love roller coasters?? We were a little scared, hoping that I wouldn't lose you, but everything was fine - you and I were both healthy the entire pregnancy (well, I wasn't for the first 4 months, but it was all worth it!). The day you were born, I had woken up at 1am to use the restroom, and started contracting. I wasn't sure if it was time because I had been having small contractions for about a month. I walked around for a while, and they grew stronger. I decided to wake your Dad and he jumped up and grabbed his watch and notepad (yep, he was actually prepared to keep track of the timing for me!). We timed the contractions for a while and I grew more uncomfortable. We decided to head in to the hospital, but I took a quick shower first and then called Grandma Kath to let her know. It was certainly the longest drive of my life! Sure, it was the middle of the night, there was no traffic, and Dad sped the whole way in, but I could feel every little bump - the pain was so intense. We made it to the hospital, they checked me on the monitors, and then we checked in. I was sooo scared! I don't do well with pain, and I didn't know what to expect, but the nurses were great and I had Dad and Grandma to help me through it. I eventually had an epidural (heaven!) and was able to relax a bit. There were about 20 people in the room when you were born - they asked if it was okay to observe, and not being in my right mind at the time, I said yes! I had been in labor for about 10 hours and you were ready - after an hour of pushing you were here!! Dr. Lloyd gasped at your awesome chubby cheeks, and couldn't believe how precious you were. Dad even cried! Family and friends poured in to visit, and Grandpa Ted told us that you were the most beautiful baby (and he even admitted that he usually doesn't think newborns are cute!). We only spent one day in the hospital. We went home on Friday, "tax day", to a sparkling clean home and eager family & friends. On Saturday (2 days old) you went on your first outing: cousin Leslie York's wedding!
Kaisha, you have always been such an angel. You bring so much joy into our lives. You are so fun and happy, and are becoming a beautiful Daughter of God. We are excited to be part of your earthly adventure with you. Thank you for making our lives happy and complete.
We love you so much, Lou-Lou!
