the victim
one arm full of hives...
and more hives...
We thought Kerianne had a simple cold. Then Lori came to visit and she still wasn't feeling better. On July 1 I finally broke down and made an appointment: the night before she had lost hearing in both ears and then during the night she broke out in HORRIBLE hives all over her body ~ head to toe. Her fever wasn't too high but it was there. The doctor checked her over, said she had an ear infection in one and the other had fluid but no infection. She then said that she was really concerned about her lungs and sent us right over for an x-ray. I've learned not to freak out and jump to conclusions (back in the day this little adventure would have had me practically in tears thinking my child was going to die!) until after the procedure is done and we have a plan of attack. So off to the radiologist! The doctor called me within an hour and said her fear was confirmed : Keri did in fact have {pneumonia}. So we started antibiotics and also Benadryl for the hives ~ and so was our life for the next few days! Kerianne did fabulous taking her meds on time each day without being reminded. The hives went away after a couple days, but boy were they itchy! The following week (July 6-10) I flew up to Utah to help Lori with her boys, and things were seeming to get a little better. By the time I got home, I was back on the phone with the doctor because the one bad ear was still BAD. Her lungs sounded fine but she still couldn't hear. We made it through another week and then I was forced to take her back and get things checked over, because she leaves for Girls Camp tomorrow and there is no way I am sending her without a clean bill of health! She has been on a z-pack since Friday ~ her lungs are clear and sound great but she still has inflammation in her sinuses and her ear is infected. Seems the first treatment kicked most of it but not all! This morning she is doing good and excited for camp. And after what she has been through, I'm glad she gets a little break :)

She came right when Keri was starting to cough, and eventually suffered through a little cold. Hope you're feeling better, sis!

Soooo glad that she is getting better. I felt so bad for her! I'm all better too- thanks for your concern! I even shared the cold with Miles so he wouldn't feel left out!
