and let the games begin...

Saturday was Little League Opening Ceremonies - finally! We've been practicing for over a month now and it's great to get going. The day began pretty early: Our team met at the park at 7:30 (a little earlier than others, but the boys were able to help unload all the snack shack goodies, plus we got a great parking spot!). The ceremony began at 8:30; pictures were at 11:00; and the game started at 5:30. That night was also a Stake Dance hosted by our ward that Kaisha and I missed out on, and Kerianne babysat for the Bishop so he and his wife could attend the dance. And one last event for the day: the Stake YM Basketball Tourney held from 8a-12p! John was in charge of it again this year and the turnout was awesome. Kam and I stopped in after his picture to watch and enjoyed pizza with all the boys! I also have to mention that while the boys and I were out and about, the girls were here at home cleaning the house! I was soooo surprised. I had left them a few chores to do but they went way above and beyond - I love my girls!!!!

Kam's first game was great. The D-backs ended up losing, 7-6, but had a great comeback after being down four runs. Kameron was named {Team Captain} for the game!! He was able to bat first but was really nervous (man, the boys in the majors pitch SO FAST - I can see why he was a little intimidated). He did make contact with the ball once with a foul ball. With the first game behind him hopefully the jitters are gone and now he can relax! Kam is still only 9 yrs. old and most on his team (and his league) are 11 and 12! He's certainly learning a lot from these older players.
