pinched fingers, scratches & scrapes...

One day last week, the school nurse called and said that she had Kennedi. I was instantly worried because I could hear her screaming in the background (and she had been with the nurse for more than 10 min. at that point!). Apparently she had come back from the restroom and when coming through the classroom door, her left hand got caught. It pinched all four fingers really good, and she began screaming for help and crying that her hand was stuck. Well, here's the kicker and why I later became upset: the class substitute (Mrs. Gumto was out after having surgery) saw and heard her and sent a STUDENT to see what had happened. What? That ticked me off. You never send a student for that kind of emergency. He could have pulled or pushed the wrong way and cut her fingers off!! And I found out later from the Principal (because I did call to voice a concern) that the sub had a teachers aide in with her also! The two of them just stood there while my daughter was screaming and terrified... Anyway, she was sent to the nurse who iced the fingers and tried to calm her down. I was able to get her calmed down when I got there, and had her drink a little apple juice, because she was starting to show signs of shock. It was quite the ordeal! Her fingers are a lot better now, and I cannot believe I didn't get a picture (I just realized!). We're so lucky that it wasn't any worse - those stupid classroom doors are so dang heavy.

That afternoon Kenners and I drove over to the school to pick up her scooter, and followed Kameron home. Then we went for ice cream at McD's! When we got home, Kam jumped on his bike and wanted me to watch him do some stunts. I was being impatient (okay, I had to pee!) and told him, sternly, that he would need to hurry. Well, he did! And completely biffed it on the sidewalk. I felt sooo horrible. I had rushed him and when he was trying to jump over a dip, his bike started wobbling and down he went. He was actually pinned under the bike. I haven't heard him cry like that. His knee was torn open, his arm was pretty bad from his wrist to his elbow, and a big chunk of skin was hanging off his thumb. (I can't believe I don't have pics of this one either!) I thought he'd have a broken bone for sure. We limped back home and got him all washed up and bandaged. He's still limping! Poor kid. I had been talking with a friend earlier in the day and told her about Kennedi, and how we've had a few accidents with the girls and nothing really with Kam. I totally jinxed him! I am learning not to be in such a rush all the time, to slow down and enjoy the moments - and you can bet Kam is going to remind me if I ever slip up :o)

Okay, so you know how bad things happen in three's? (I said that to Kam and he just stared at me like I was talking gibberish!) A day or two before this ordeal, Kaisha hurt her knee! She was at practice and they were having team pictures taken. She and a friend were hitting the ball around and she went to dive for it and forgot that she wasn't wearing her trusty ol' knee pads! She got a pretty good burn and bruise on her kneecap. Way-to-go Kaish - that right there started our "three bad" curse!!

I'm so glad last week is over...

Poor, poor kids. I hate it when they get hurt. And, like I told you, your family really does experience the bad things in 3's thing! It's crazy! I'm really glad everyone is doing better. Give them all kisses for me! :-)
