tonight was crazy scary! we experienced a {haboob} in the valley. we've had them before, but nothing like this. kaisha & kerianne had dropped kameron off at a friend's house to hang out, and then headed for mutual at the church. that left kenners and i here at home watching tv! she kept looking outside and commenting on the clouds. then she yells at me to come out front. it looked really dusty, but i didn't actually see the wall of dust traveling toward us. within a couple minutes it was pitch black outside and the patio door was nearly crashing in. kenners became really frightened. i was thrilled! i love me a good storm! we couldn't see anything outside of our back yard. the wind seemed like it was blowing 50 mph. it lasted a good 20-30 mins. i had to open the patio door to move a metal chair from crashing through the door, and in just those few seconds, my table and entire kitchen are covered in a layer of dust! i talked with the girls at the church. the leaders were not letting anyone leave, due to zero visibility. kam & his friend saw the wall moving in and barely made it into the house in time. i called john who is in calif. - mainly for some reassurance that everything was going to be okay - and sent him a picture. the girls finally made it home safe and sound. there's plenty of lightening/thunder outside right now. and i'm realizing after walking through the house that everything is covered in dust! good thing i didn't actually clean today =) the news is reporting that this haboob was record breaking: 60 miles wide. gotta love summers in phoenix!!
