Our weekend...

On Friday we decided to get out of the house and take the kids to see the new Indiana Jones movie - we LOVED it. I am a true fan of Indie (thanks to my Dad!) and the kids have enjoyed watching the movies with me over the years. We grabbed a bite at Chick-fil-A, then walked around a new Outdoor World to pass time. The kids had fun seeing all the wildlife.

Saturday morning John and I went with Kameron to his Little League closing ceremonies. His team this year, the Muckdogs, took "First" place in the farm league. They were 8-0-1 for the season - pretty awesome! He was able to run the bases one last time with the team and then received a trophy. Later on, John took Kam golfing here in town. It wasn't too hot, but still up in the high 90s, and we think Kameron was out in the sun a little too long. He gets hot very easily, and certainly did that day :o) He was a bit dehydrated, although he and John drank plenty of water and soda, and ended up feeling sick that night. He's a trooper and was feeling better by Sunday morning. I think his body really needed the rest. That night, Kaisha babysat for Jeff and Heather Neese, and John and I snuck away for a date. We had dinner and stopped by fresh & easy to do some shopping. We love the freedom of having older kids now!!!

Today was fast Sunday and there were so many wonderful testimonies shared in church. John was a substitute in Primary and had fun. And today was the first time that the Young Women have separated for classes. There are enough girls coming now that they were able to call a Beehive advisor. Yeah! Right after we moved into this ward, Kaisha became a Mia Maid and has struggled a bit with having to meet as one class altogether, so she is excited for this change. Tonight we had grilled pork chops, augratin potatoes and french bread for dinner. Yummy! John has started a tradition where we each share a scripture at dinner on Sunday. The kids are loving it. We hope it's helping to teach them how to find and share scriptures, and how to relate them to their own lives. Then we clean up and prepare for FHE. It works best for us to have it on Sunday night since John is usually gone during the week. Tonight was my turn for the lesson and we talked about testimonies, and how we can strengthen them. We were all able to share and the spirit was so strong. There were many tears! I really look forward to Sunday now, and the time that we get to spend with the kids and teach and counsel them. We have also made the decision to not watch t.v., and it's not as hard as we thought! We encourage the kids to read church magazines, their scriptures, play games with each other, take naps (that's my personal favorite!). It's starting to bring us closer together already.

I have been thinking lately about how grateful I am to have been entrusted with such wonderful children. They have special spirits and we know they are going to be great leaders someday. I am also grateful to be married to such an honorable husband, who works hard to provide a wonderful life for us, and who loves us so much. He is such an inspiration to me! He encourages me to always be positive and to not dwell on the bad or stressful things around us. It sure makes life easier :o)

I can't imagine a life with older kids! Too bad we don't have a great sitter like Kaish! That is really cool about your family scripture sharing and FHE. Your kids really are wonderful. I've always thought they were each so special in their own unique ways. I can't wait to see them in a few days!!!
