surgery - poor little piggy...

Kaisha was at a friend's house and slipped going down her spiral staircase. She jammed her small toe pretty good and broke it. The podiatrist determined that surgery was necessary. So I quickly got a flight to Phoenix to be with her on surgery day...
Selfie at the surgery center!
The surgery center was so amazing. We had a wonderful experience there.
She also had a lot of bruising all over her body. Poor girl :-(
Getting prepped - she really had wonderful nurses.
He toe all taped up to hold it tight - plus she had to wear a boot.
Her amazing doctor, Dr. Jon Beecroft, is a friend and neighbor of ours from our days in Maricopa! We are so grateful he was able to help Kaisha - it was wonderful to know she was in such great hands.
Getting the good drugs and feeling a bit sleepy!
The after scans. It was such a clean break that Dr. Beecroft had to remove a portion of her bone. The cartilage was gone and she would've ended up with arthritis. He pulled everything together with a metal pin that will stay there. He did mention that her toe would be quite a bit shorter than it was before!! She's not thrilled about that!
Post op! She did amazing and didn't have a hard time coming to... the nurses were really impressed with her.
Back to the boot for six weeks! At least it is more comfortable than the first one.
Happy to have the surgery over with and be free from pain.
She wasn't supposed to eat but we were both starving so I caved and got her her favorite! We hung around at her place for a bit and then we left to drive to Cali!
Boi was excited to come to Mimi & Papi's house! She is going to be with us for a week, until her follow-up appointment. I'm so glad we can help her recover and get back on her "feet"!
