injury...

Kerianne sprained her left pointer finger at Mutual the other night. She was putting on her shoe without untying the laces, and her finger got jammed. When she pulled it she heard a pop and then lots of pain. There were tears, ice to help with the swelling, and then loss of movement.
She couldn't straighten it out and a small bump appeared on the top. We were concerned as she is left-handed. We made an appointment with the Pediatrician and she ordered x-rays. She also wanted us to see an Orthopedic Surgeon.
We requested a copy of the x-rays and took them over to our friend Clinton Kakazu - he is a doctor and a ward member. He looked at both x-rays and examined the finger and knew right away it was just a sprain... no fracture. Just what we thought!
We bought finger compression bandages and a splint to help immobilize the finger so she could write and it is healing up quite nicely!
