John flew home on Thursday night and the real fun began. We picked up two large Budget trucks on Friday and started loading. John got up really early on Saturday to get going again, as we had several guys from the ward coming at 7am to help with the big furniture. You should have seen how shocked they were that basically everything was packed and ready to load. The kids and I worked so hard! They helped us wrap furniture and get everything safely loaded. We are always worried about the piano, where one of the legs is broken, but they moved it easily. Then came the refrigerator: we thought that we'd sold it but that fell through at the very last minute, so we had to find room to fit it. And then hopefully have room in our storage unit in CA to fit it, as it is too big for our condo.
As everything was being taken out, the kids and I were cleaning like mad! We'd already cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen spotless, so we just needed to vacuum and mop. The final step was moping the tile floor as we walked out of the door. It was painful, I'm not gonna lie. I cried. Everyone was buckled up and ready to go, and I'm standing in the garage crying! So Kennedi and I were in one truck, John and Kameron in the other, and Kaisha and Kerianne were driving the van (with the dogs!!). We were quite the caravan. We made a goal to leave town between 8-9am and we met that goal. We knew it would take 8 hours to get to our condo and we had movers lined up there to help us unload.
We left 115 degree Arizona and pulled up to 68 degree California! It was foggy and moist and felt ahhhhhh-mazing! We are so in love with this view of the ocean from our condo (although you can't really see it through the fog in this picture).
We met the three mover guys and got crackin'. The got all of the furniture in place for us and then loaded up the family room with all the boxes. It seriously looks like we're hoarders! We'll tackle a few boxes each day and be settled in a couple weeks.
It's good to be home =)
