scout camp...

kameron was enthusiastically invited to go to scout camp with our old ward troop in ahwatukee! he had been to all of his camps with them so we decided that it would be best to go to camp with them one last time. he bunked in a tent with good friend jason baker and a new boy in their ward. sadly, this new boy ended up stealing all of kam & jason's spending money. kam was disappointed that a scout would do that. welcome to the real world buddy!! other than that, and being rained on every single day, he had an awesome time - not even showing once the entire week!!! he got a lot of merit badges and it nearly ready to start working on his eagle =)

after taking their camp down in a downpour, they stopped at the lava tubes in flagstaff for some fun. they were wet, extremely cold (down in the caves), dirty, and tired! i drove out to ahwatukee to pick him up at bro. skid's house and helped unpack the gear out of the truck. and it started to rain! really hard! we got all of kam's gear and headed for home. about halfway home we hit a wicked storm. it was raining so hard and so fast that the water didn't have anywhere to go but puddle up on the freeway.  we couldn't see the car right in front of us! we were hydroplaning all over. it was terrifying.  we drove slowly with our hazards on for about a mile before i decided not to risk it and to pull over under an overpass. we sat there for about 10 minutes. kameron said a prayer that we'd be okay, and you know what? after we made it just one more exit down the freeway and were out of the storm, he said another prayer of gratitude! i think he was more scared than i was -- i thought it was pretty cool!
here's his legs : dirt all the way down to his sock line!

 oh man, was he d-i-r-t-y!
and i don't even want to go into detail about this!!
let's just say that it took me two days to go through it and get it all washed (or thrown away)! it was one of the stinkiest things i've ever had to deal with!
oh, the joys of scout camp... =)
